Barb grew up on a dairy farm in upstate New York. After graduating from SUNY Geneseo, she and her husband moved to West Virginia, and then lived in Ohio, prior to moving to Massachusetts.
“As a professional librarian, I have ”lived” the evolution of resources from print to electronic. No longer subscribing to journals in paper, I began negotiating licenses for electronic resources. With the rapid growth of the Internet and its capabilities to “search/copy/paste/send,” awareness of the basics of copyright law and compliance procedures became increasingly important.”
“I have a passion for teaching people about copyright—busting the myths and misunderstandings about copyright in the Digital Age– and having some FUN in the process!
“Copyright can seem like a “gray murky ooze” –always shifting and changing. I enjoy guiding individuals and businesses through that ooze…around the potholes…around the quicksand…that can suck the life out of a business.
“My mission is to raise awareness of the impact of copyright on our daily lives, helping us to avoid the risk of time-consuming and potentially very expensive litigation.”
